What is the difference between BMC F2 NV1 and F2 NV2 Full Face Masks?
The BMC F2 NV1 and F2 NV2 are both full-face masks designed for non-invasive ventilation, but they differ primarily in their elbow design and safety features. The BMC F2 NV1 features a clear plastic Entrainment Elbow (EE) with an Anti-Asphyxiation Valve (AAV). This valve is a critical safety feature that allows fresh room air to enter the mask if the ventilator stops delivering air, for example, during a power failure, helping to prevent the user from re-breathing exhaled air. The NV1 elbow also includes a controlled leak port and offers a non-vented connection to the ventilator circuit. In contrast, the BMC F2 NV2 comes with a blue-colored Standard Elbow (SE) that does not include an AAV or any intentional leak. It provides a direct, non-vented connection to the ventilator circuit without the added safety feature found in the NV1.
